Maison de la Tour

Maison de la Tour : Gite

Maison de la Tour was once the housekeeper’s cottage, but now refurbished, it is a spacious three bedroomed house which can accommodate up to six people.

Maison de la Tour backs onto the courtyard of the main house but has its own access from the main drive and its own private terrace and garden which is fenced to all sides.  Accommodation is spread over three floors including the tower room which is a favourite with children.

The Kitchen  and Living Space

The modern and spacious kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, including an electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and toaster. There is a washing machine which sits in a utility area off the hallway which leads to the lounge/dining room. Kitchen basics such as tin foil, cling film, baking paper, tea-towels, dish cloths and cleaning products are provided.

The main living space is a large airy room with a high ceiling and the original tiled floor. French doors lead to the terrace with outside dining area while inside there are comfortable sofas and a dining table with seating for 6. There is UK TV, internet access via wifi and a stereo system with Ipod docking. An assortment of books, games, CDs and DVDs are provided.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Maison de la Tour bunk room/tower room

There are three bedrooms, one on each floor. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with ensuite luxury shower room. This is accessed via the hallway past the kitchen. There is also direct access to the garden from this bedroom. Being on the ground floor with its own bathroom this room is ideal for anyone who has difficulty with stairs, however there is a small step (10cms) to the lounge.

Upstairs is a huge triple aspect double bedroom looking out over the garden, courtyard and pastures.  There is a small seating area on the landing, an ideal place to sit reading a book and looking out over the pool and garden where the children can play. Up again via an open oak staircase to the second floor and the bunk room in the turret. These two rooms share a bathroom with an enormous walk in shower.

The Swimming Pool and Outdoors

The 10m x 5m metre heated pool, shared with bed and breakfast guests from the main house, has easy access stairs to one end so is ideal for younger children. We are often asked why it does not look bright blue in the pictures, this is because we have a grey liner, which is a much more subtle colour and helps to retain the heat. The pool is surrounded by beautiful flower beds and terraces where you can sunbathe on the sunloungers provided. If the sun is too much for you, a lovely wooden gazebo and an assortment of umbrellas are there to provide shade. The pool is heated from June to end September. In summer months a ping pong table is installed in the garden. The pool area is fenced for security reasons.
The house has a private area of courtyard and garden, screened off from the main house and driveway. Separate gates for personal access lead onto the main drive. There is outdoor dining for 6 as well as sun loungers and a charcoal fired BBQ. The courtyard overlooks the pool and main garden. There is an additional outdoor loo at the side of the gite. tour1
